We have maintained an excellent record of safety for over 40 years. However, any outdoor adventure activity offers varying degrees of inherent natural risk.
Minimize your risk and maximize your fun by following these simple trail rules:
- Give audible warnings when passing pedestrians and other bicyclists.
- Bicyclists must yield to pedestrians.
- Always yield right and pass on the left.
- Do not take up the whole trail. When others are approaching, travel in a single file on the right.
- Move off to the side of the trail when stopping. Let people that are in motion use the trail.
When you visit our Jim Thorpe location, you can park in the municipal parking lot located next to the train station. They charge you a small fee but you can park there all day. The address for the municipal parking lot is: 1 Susquehanna St., Jim Thorpe, PA 18229.
Oppositely, when you visit our White Haven location, you can use our free parking lot!

When you take our Lehigh Gorge shuttles, there are no places to purchase food along the trail; however, there are picnic tables for you to enjoy lunch! You can pick up food in Jim Thorpe or White Haven to take with you on the bike trail!
When you take the Lehigh Gap Shuttle and bike between Cementon and Jim Thorpe, there are a few places to purchase food along the way in Slatington, Bowmanstown, Weissport, and upon your return to Jim Thorpe.

They can also be rented for $5 if you are bringing your own bikes. A valid ID is required.
We will allow you to bring your dog on our daily bike trips as long as the other guests that are on the bike shuttle agree. In the rare instance that they do not agree, you can move to a later shuttle (if available), receive a full refund, or opt out of our shuttle service and ride out/back on the D&L Trail. Dogs are NOT permitted in our child cabooses! If you bring your own dog carrier, you MUST pay a shuttle fee for us to transport the equipment.
If you have your own bicycle, we encourage you to bring it! We recommend that your bike is equipped with 32mm or wider tires and is tuned up prior to your ride.
